Hott Poppy-Rotzi #15:12
Hott Poppy-Rotzi already has two home bouts under her belt, having bouted the Barbies in January and the JawBreakers in February. Poppy fans will see her back on the track April 21st when the Hydros take on the Barbies at the Sportsplex.

Poppy “Hott Poppy-Rotzi” Kelly is a hard-hitting blocker for the Hydro Elektras. Poppy and her husband John are photographers by day. They are the co-owners of JP Portrait studio and are the official photo sponsors of the league taking everything from action shots at the bout to portraits of the teams and skaters. Poppy is also the head of ACRD skater relations.
Poppy has loved roller derby since she was a little girl, and used to spend her Saturday nights at the roller rink in Medford, Oregon. When she heard there was a league starting up in Wenatchee she was all over it! She said, "Who wouldn’t love a sport where you get to hit people on a regular basis!"Poppy’s family and friends are supportive of her, and love that she is involved with derby.
Poppy’s passion for derby show on the track as well. Her team captain, Dead Girl Superstar said, “Hott Poppy-Rotzi is the most honest, caring, and loving members of our team. She is uncompromisingly optimistic no matter how hard she is pushing her body or her mind. Her obsession with derby shows whenever she laces up her skates. Poppy is such a valuable teammate, on and off the track.”
Off the track, Poppy loves working to help build the league. She feels like she is helping people make their derby journey fabulous, and she loves her derby family and wants to keep them as long as possible. When asked why she puts in so much time she said, “I put in so many volunteer hours because the success of our league is important to me. If our league succeeds we are creating a legacy and activity for women to feel empowered, confident and all around awesome!”
Poppy hopes the league will continue to grow larger and stronger so that when her daughters are older, they too can be Apple City Rollergirls! She wants to inspire them in the same way that the women who have worked hard to improve themselves and commit to the league's success have inspired her.
Poppy has also inspired her teammates, including Ameless of the Hydro Elektras, “Poppy is the best kind of teammate! She always has an encouraging word for everyone, but if it looks like we're slackin’, she doesn't hesitate to let us know! She also happens to have a real knack for taking pictures of roller girls!”
The league is better because of Poppy. She is an inspiration to me as a skater and as a person. She always has a kind word and a big smile. I recommend that the next time you need help with a skater issue, photography or a friendly face to talk to, look no further than hard-working and hard-hitting Hott Poppy-Rotzi.
